Grosvenor House

Converted from a Victorian office building into a purpose-built residence, Grosvenor House opened to students for the first time in September 2005.

The residence is unique within LSE accommodation in that all of its 164 rooms are small, self-contained studios, with private toilet and shower facilities and a mini-kitchen.

The building can house almost 220 students (postgraduates only) in 105 single studios, 59  twin studios and 3 one bedroom flats.


Grosvenor house external view from the streetThe residence is located on Drury Lane, on the Eastern boundary of the lively Covent Garden area and in the heart of London's Theatreland. It is within 5 minutes' walk of the LSE campus.

Oxford Street's shops and Leicester Square's variety of entertainments are also within walking distance.

The closest Underground station is Covent Garden (0.2 miles, Piccadilly Line), the nearest major train stations are Charing Cross (0.5 miles) and Waterloo (0.9miles).

Internet and telephones

Each bedroom has a data link to the School network and internet. There is also a communal computer suite with a number of workstations and a printer. For more details on using the IT facilities, please see:  Using your own computer| 

Every room has a telephone and voice mail service, run via the LSE telephone network. For further information visit: Student telecoms|

Cooking Facilities

Each room contains a mini-kitchen, including two-ring hob, microwave, fridge, sink, food storage facilities and extractor.

Cleaning and Bed Linen

Grosvenor House a student at her deskWhilst communal areas will be cleaned, residents are responsible for the cleaning of their own studio, including mini-kitchen and shower room.

The hall will provide duvets and pillows but residents must supply their own bed linen and towels.


Communal areas

Grosvenor House has a communal television room with comfortable seating. Also available is an inexpensive, coin-operated laundry.


The building features good disabled access.

Vacation Periods

Grosvenor House sofa and tableStudents staying in Grosvenor House will sign a 40-week contract, which includes Christmas and Easter vacations.

Students will NOT be able to stay in the residence during the Summer vacation.

Those wishing to remain in London during this period can apply for accommodation in another residence.

Couples

Grosvenor House will provide accommodation for couples in a number of double and twin studios.


Fees*

  • Full Session (40 weeks) 2012/13 rents
  • Single Studio - £238.00 - £290.50 per week
  • Twin (per person) Studio - £161.00 per week
  • Double Studio (couples) - £297.50 - £336.00 per week
  • One Bedroom flat (couples) - TBC 
  • Common Room Fee - £10 per term
