By rail and tube
London Underground (the Tube) connects Heathrow directly with central London. This is the cheapest convenient way to travel as long as you don't have too much luggage.
For Rosebery Avenue, take the Piccadilly line to Kings Cross (about 1 hour) and then either change to the Northern Line, southbound to Angel or hop in a taxi.
A possibly faster but certainly more expensive option is the Heathrow Express. This runs every 15 minutes to and from Paddington Station in central London. The journey takes about 15 minutes. From Paddington take the Tube, Circle or Hammersmith and City lines to Farringdon (approx 20 minutes) or hop in a black cab (taxi).
National Express run bus services between the terminals and central London. Most go to Victoria from where you can catch the Victoria Line to Kings Cross or the Circle line to Farringdon. The trip to Victoria can take up to 1 hour 15 minutes and the another 15 to 20 minutes by tube.
We'd recommend Thameslink Railway which runs train services to Bedford via the City (which stop at Farringdon). This is very convenient for Rosebery. Otherwise, you could use the Gatwick Express| which runs trains every 15 minutes to Victoria. The journey takes about 30 minutes. All trains come into the South Terminal, but there is a free Inter Terminal Transit train every 3 minutes (journey time 2 minutes).
Gatwick Airport is well connected by National Express coach services to the rest of the UK. The Airbus A5 runs to Victoria from the South Terminal.
Use the Tube, Circle Line (slow) to Farringdon or Victoria Line to Kings Cross then Northern Line southbound to Angel.
London Underground, Circle or Hammersmith and City lines to Farringdon.
Take the Northern Line north to Euston and then switch to the Northern line City branch (Waterloo is on the Charring Cross branch of the Northern Line) and go south to Angel.
From Kings Cross
You can get the Northern Line southbound, one stop to Angel.
From Liverpool Street
You can take the Tube, Metropolitan, Circle or Hammersmith and City Lines to Farringdon.
If you've too much luggage to carry easily on and off trains or buses then you might consider a taxi from wherever you are. We recommend using a black cab. For Rosebery ask for 'Rosebery Avenue, next to the Family Records Centre just down from the Sadler's Wells theatre'.
We recommend using a route planner such as AA route planner, RAC route planner, Green Flag route planneror any other.
Use EC1R 4TY as your destination.
If you enter Rosebery Avenue from the north, past the Sadler's Wells theatre then there is a pedestrian crossing by a small park just before the left turn into Gloucester Way.
If you've entered Rosebery Avenue from the south, the residence is on your right hand side just past Finsbury Town Hall. There is a pedestrian crossing and you pull in to the right just before that to Gloucester Way.
Pulling into Gloucester Way, turn immediately to your right into Green Terrace and stop outside Rosebery Hall.
Estimated journey time: 20 to 25 minutes
To the School
As you leave Rosebery Hall turn left onto Rosebery Avenue.
Follow Rosebery Avenue all the way down to Clerkenwell Road, past the Town Hall, Exmouth Market and the Fire Station.
Cross Clerkenwell Road and turn right past a couple of small shops and a Pret a Manger.
Cross Gray's Inn Road, directly ahead and keep going straight along following Theobald's Road (Note: This isn't the quickest or most pleasant route but until you learn the shortcuts then this is the easiest way).
Keep going and you will find yourself passing St Martin's College where you turn left onto Southampton Row.
Follow this road down, crossing at Holborn and continuing into Kingsway.
Follow this road all the way down.
Here turn left onto the Aldwych.
The next left, after the Nat West bank, is Houghton Street, home of the School.
At the main entrance you can get a map showing the School buildings and the links between them.
Estimated journey time: 20 to 25 minutes
The 341 is extremely convenient, going from the Aldwych (second stop to the left as you leave Houghton Street) to Rosebery Avenue (Hardwick Street stop) and the other way around from outside Finsbury Town Hall to the south side of the Aldwych.
Estimated journey time: 20 to 25 minutes.
Holds no benefit when travelling to and from the School. It is quicker and easier to use the bus or walk.
