Why LSE?

Is there anyone in the world who has not heard of the LSE? We will help you stand out as an individual business leader who understands and cares about the world. The LSE was founded in 1895 by four leading members of the Fabian Society: Beatrice and Sydney Webb, Graham Wallas and George Bernard Shaw. The aim of the School was the betterment of society. In 1922 it adopted its motto "rerum cognoscere causas" (from Virgil's Georgics) which means "to know the causes of things." This spirit of constructive critical analysis is at the heart of our teaching, research and global activity.

Since the LSE was set up to improve society and to understand root causes of societal issues, we have always put engagement with the wider world at the heart of our mission. The LSE Department of Management's internationally renowned academics are research leaders in their fields with a flair for teaching management from the unique perspective of a global university rather than a traditional business school with more limited course content and teaching approaches. We draw upon the LSE's peerless internal intellectual resources and external contacts to provide students with up-to-date perspectives on the latest developments in global business, politics, international relations, social and public policy and practices.

Our students benefit from the Department's strong links with top professionals in London and around the world. They also have access to LSE's renowned series of high profile public lectures and events, and will contribute to, and benefit from, the School's unique intellectual environment which encompasses 9,000 students from 145 countries and 100,000 alumni in 190 countries and an active Alumni Association with over 70 groups and contact networks worldwide.
