Dr Barbara Fasolo

Lecturer in Decision Sciences

Biography

Dr Barbara Fasolo is a behavioural decision researcher and Lecturer in Decision Sciences within the Department of Management. She is also a member of the Decision Services Unit within LSE Enterprise. An economist by training (BSc Economics at Bocconi University, 1995), she then took a MSc in Decision Sciences from the LSE (1997) and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder (2002), under the supervision of Professor Gary McClelland. Prior to joining LSE in 2004 she worked for two years as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Adaptive Behaviour and Cognition Group of the Max Planck Institute of Human Development in Berlin, Germany. She is a member of the European Association of Decision Making, the London Judgment and Decision Making Group and the Society of Judgment and Decision Making. She currently has a three year part-time secondment at the European Medicines Agency to research risk-benefit judgments in drug regulatory decisions.

Dr Fasolo conducts research in behavioural decision science in domains of health, wealth and wellbeing She has a particular interest in experiments and field studies that advance knowledge on our capability to make good decisions and on nudges, and other aids, that can improve decision-making for individuals and organisations.
