Dr Jonathan E. Booth

Lecturer in Employment Relations and Organisational Behaviour

Biography

Dr Jonathan E. Booth joined the Employment Relations and Organisational Behaviour Group in August 2009. He received his Ph.D. in human resources and industrial relations at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he was a consultant in information technology, change management, and training development for firms such as Intel, Marriott International, and Wells Fargo. He also has a BS in business administration from Georgetown University, Washington, DC.

Dr Booth has taught courses in the areas of human resources, organisational behaviour, dispute resolution, and labour relations.

Research interests

  • Workplace aggression and victimisation:
    • Cognitive and emotional appraisals and coping processes
    • Role of core-self evaluations
    • Leadership, team, and organisational structure influences
  • Forgiveness
  • Dirty work
  • Conflict management, dispute resolution and arbitral decision making
  • Union membership and participation, youth-adult differences, and never-membership
  • Corporate social responsibility and employee volunteer programs.
