PhD student in Management Science
Biography
In 2006 I obtained a BSc/MSc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (Greece) with a specialization in Communications. My masters thesis focused on the development and analysis of an intra-business transactions model (e-business). During my studies in Athens I worked as an intern in the MRS section of Kantor Management Consultants, where I performed an analysis of the financial state of the Greek industry in 2004. In 2007 I completed an MSc in Management Science and Operational Research at Warwick Business School. My postgraduate studies at Warwick were funded by Propondis Foundation (Piraeus, Greece) and Warwick Business School (EPSRC tuition fee waiver). During my studies at Warwick I completed an external thesis project in cooperation with the Academic Office of the University of Warwick. In this project I introduced research metrics and developed spreadsheet models using VBA for Excel to assess UK institutions' research performance. After I graduated from the University of Warwick I joined the Greek army for one year and completed my military service in 2008. During this period I graduated from the School of Research and Informatics Officers of the Hellenic Army (SAEP) and was sent abroad (Hellenic Force in Cyprus - ELDYK) to finish my military service. Towards the end of my military service I applied for a PhD degree to LSE and joined the Operational Research Group, now called Management Science Group, in October 2008. Currently I am a PhD student at LSE under the supervision of Dr Katerina Papadaki and Professor Gautam Appa. My PhD studies are funded by the LSE Research Studentship Scheme. In addition to my LSE teaching, I also teach on the following courses at the London Business School: Financial Modelling with Spreadsheets (for MBA students); and Statistics Foundation Course for MBA and MiF (Masters in Finance) students.
