Biography
Fan completed his bachelor's degree in Philosophy with distinction at Wuhan University (China) in 2003 and got his first masters degree in philosophy at University College London in 2006. During his study for the philosophy masters, Fan decided to change his life direction and seek a conversion path into management. He therefore obtained a second masters degree in management with distinction at the University of Bristol. At Bristol, Fan built up his knowledge of management which ignited his interest in human resource management. Fan joined LSE in 2007, initally as a research masters student, before progressing to a PhD in 2008.
Research interests
Subject areas: Performance management, Performance related pay, Human resource management in China
Fan's current research focuses on human resource management in China, including the performance management and performance related pay in Chinese organisations. The aim of his study is to determine the acceptance and effectiveness of a performance management system in China. Moreover, he will also discuss whether there are some particular situational factors which can increase the acceptance and effectiveness of performance management in China.
