PhD student in Information Systems and Innovation

Biography

I am a PhD student in management at Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science. In 2008, I finished the Master in Industrial Relations (Research) at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Under the supervision of Professor Jacqueline Coyle-Shapiro, my MRes Dissertation was on 'Social Networks and Psychological Contracts – A literature review'. Before my journey at the LSE, I served as a junior researcher at CIDER|  (Research Centre on Regional Economy Development) from 2005 to 2007.  I gained a BSc in Sociology from the  University of Algarve  | (Portugal) in 2006. The BSc dissertation – 'Tourism a Social Perspective – The case of Arade Board' – mobilised the sociological framework to understand motivations of tourists visiting the Algarve Region, Portugal.

Research Interests

Subject areas: inter-organisational relationships; coordination; longitudinal social network analysis; and, multiple case-study

My research interests lie at the interaction between strategy and organizational behaviour. I wonder about the organising mechanisms – i.e., coordination - occurring throughout the evolution of inter-organisational relationships (IO-R). In particular, I look at the role of contracts in IO-R, multilevel-analysis of coordination at both the organisation-level and department-level within IO-R ties; and, heterogeneity in IO-R (e.g., multiple functions). Environmentally sustainable construction serves as empirical setting. I am admittedly fascinated about the challenge of conceiving management strategies for inter-organisational networks

In terms of methodology, I use the inductive theory-building with embedded, multiple cases (Eisenhardt, 1989) to carry out a longitudinal study on the dynamics of IO-R configurations. My research benefits from substantial data richness of meeting minutes which are the primary data source.

Other interests are related to software for Social Network Analysis (e.g., SPSS, UCINET; PAJEK, Siena).
