Research Topic: The role of the media in public policy - a case study of GM food and crops

Honours degree in History from the University of Natal, Durban. When I left university I taught English to 16-18 year olds in South Africa before immigrating to the UK ten years ago. At that time I changed careers and became a business journalist and have worked on specialist trade and national newspapers as well as on internet news services. I undertook an MSc in government and politics part time at Birkbeck where my dissertation was on the regulation of GM food and crops. I am now in my first year of doctoral programme which I am doing part time while working as a freelance journalist. My research interests include media and public policy, media and environmental issues/science, media regulation as well as the impact of the internet and alternative media on print media.
