The LSE Methodology Institute (Martin W Bauer) and the National Centre for Applied Economic Research|, Delhi (Rajesh Shukla) are collaborating since 2003 on the construction of ‘Global indicators of Science Culture’. This led to the First India Science Report (2004), the Eurobarometer survey 2005 ‘European, Science and Technology’ , the International Meeting at the Royal Society ‘International Indicators of Science and the Public’ in November 2007 with follow-up meetings in Delhi (March 2008), Sao Paulo (April 2008) and Hiroshima (Sept 2009), and further meetings planned in China and South Africa in coming years. Finally the collaboration includes, together with the German data archive GESIS|, the construction of globally comparative databases for international research into public understanding of science (EU32 and India23; EU12 1989-2005). This database will be publicly available in due course.
