Research summary > [Click to expand]

Dr Costa-Font's teaching and research interests include theoretical, empirical and policy questions on both 'political economy and economics of health and social policy'. He is also interested in theoretical questions on social economics when they give rise to substantive public policy implications. He is currently working on two projects attempting to understand the effects of social (vis-a-vis monetary) incentives (e.g., culture, identity, status, self-image, altruism), and institutional arrangements accommodating preference heterogeneity (such as fiscal decentralization and provider choice reforms) on health, insurance and redistribution. Specifically, during 2013 his work will focus on how to expand insurance for long-term care. In addition, he will contribute to a wider project on causal life course effects of policy interventions on mental and physical well-being
