Joan's (Dr Costa-Font's) research is broadly on the 'political economy of health and social protection'. He is an economist with additional graduate and undergraduate training in law, political science and sociology. His work attempts to advance the design of social policy and institutions. During 2013 his research addresses the financing of long term care in Europe and the United States.
