Dr Costa-i-Font's research focuses on the advancement of two areas, namely: (i) the political economy of European fiscal federalism and welfare state reform and (ii) the economics of health and social policy. His current research projects examine how fiscal and political integration along with decentralisation impacts on the efficiency, productivity and equity of European health systems and welfare states; and how preference endogeneity in the form of identity and culture influence individuals' incentives (and preferences) for redistribution, health and financial behaviour at old age.
