Cécile's research aims to understand the process of leadership emergence. Cécile is particularly interested in understanding how, and to what extent, emotional intelligence and self-view as a leader affect the emergence of leaders.
To conduct her investigations, she analyses how leadership networks evolve over time. In a leadership network, nodes represent individuals and ties represent leadership nominations. The direction of the tie distinguishes leaders, who receive the tie, from followers, who send the tie. Nodes with the highest number of incoming ties denote the emergent leaders. When tracked over time, leadership networks can be modelled using longitudinal network analysis (SIENA).
