Mr King's areas of expertise are mental health policy and economics and projections in the demand and financing of long term care. He has previously worked in the areas of private medical insurance, priority setting in health care, pharmaceutical policy and development of quality of life instruments. Derek has recently completed work looking at prescribing patterns of antipsychotics in the British NHS with Professor Martin Knapp and is currently researching service use patterns of people with psychosis and the adult economic consequences of antisocial behaviour in childhood and adolescence. As part of the Long-term Care Financing Research Team, he contributes to the modelling of future demand for long-term care for older people and its associated expenditure.
