Dr Borgonovi's research focuses on individual and contextual determinants of social participation and the role community engagement can play in promoting mental and physical wellbeing, especially among disadvantaged groups. Recent research examines the determinants of the financial stability of third sector organisations and the role public policies can have in sustaining them. Dr Borgonovi is also engaged in projects examining whether education has positive effects on health and social capital.
