Dr Gabriel M. Ahlfeldt, Dipl. Vw. [MSc (Econ) equivalent, Free University Berlin] and Dr. rer. pol. (University of Hamburg), is a Lecturer in Urban Economics and Land Development. He joined the department of Geography and Environment in 2009.
His quantitative research covers the fields of applied urban and regional economics. He is interested in the spatial dimension of the urban and regional distribution of economic activity, and the spatial interaction between economic agents at various geographic levels. Much of his recent research focuses on the external effects of the built environment and the economic impact of accessibility, both in contemporary and historical perspective.
