Dr Rothe works in game theory, i.e. the formal analysis of strategic interaction. Game theory proceeds by constructing mathematical models of strategic decision problems. In this way game theory subjects strategic reasoning to rigorous analysis and contributes to a clarification of strategic thinking. Dr Rothe's main interest is the conceptual basis of game theory. In particular, his work combines concepts of risk and uncertainty with strategic equilibrium concepts. The relevance of this approach lies in the fact that it provides a robustness analysis of strategic concepts.
