Marco Manacorda is a Professor of Economics at Queen Mary University of London and a Research Associate at the Centre for Economic Performance at LSE. Prior to this, he has been, among other things, a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley, a Nuffield Foundation New Development Fellow in the Social Sciences, a Research Fellow at STICERD at LSE, and a Visiting Associate Professor/Visiting Scholar at Princeton University.
Marco's interest and expertise is in Public Policy and Labour Economics in low and middle income countries. He has advised several international agencies (ILO, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank) and he is Lead Advisor for UCW, the inter-agency (ILO-UNICEF-World Bank) project on Child Labor. He has also advised the Uruguayan government on the design and evaluation of PANES (Plan de Atencion Nacional a la Emergencia Social) and he sits on the Technical Advisory Group to the US Department of Labor on the impact evaluation of the Child Labor Education Initiative. His research has been featured in The Guardian, The Independent, TIME Magazine Europe, TIME Magazine USA, The Daily Telegraph, Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, and Metro.
Marco holds a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Economics from UCL.
