I am interested in research concerning the teaching of German as a foreign languages, German for academic purposes, online language teaching and learning, intercultural rhetoric and pragmatics as well as translation studies. I have worked as an editor in the publication of bilingual German-English dictionaries and maintain an interest in lexicology and lexicography. My PhD looked at the lexical realization of writer-reader interaction in German history monographs and at how this "metadiscourse" was rendered in published English translations. My latest publication is "Everyday academic language in German historiography" published 2011 in "German as a Foreign Language". I am currently working on the development of an online language course, "German for Academic Purposes".
