Dr Schelkle is a Senior Lecturer in Political Economy at the European Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science, since 2001. She is also an Adjunct professor of economics at the economics department of the Free University of Berlin where she did a post-doctorate degree (Habilitation) in 1999 with a thesis on “The new theory of monetary integration” (published in German in 2001). She is interested in the political economy of European integration, in particular fiscal governance and the impact on welfare systems in member states.
