Sumantra Bose is a scholar of comparative politics and international relations whose publications include acclaimed books on the Kashmir conflict (2003), and international intervention and state-building in Bosnia-Herzegovina (2002). His most recent book, 'Contested Lands: Israel-Palestine, Kashmir, Bosnia, Cyprus, and Sri Lanka' (2007) is a study of the challenges of making and sustaining peace in the world's most intractable disputes over land and sovereignty. 'Contested Lands' was published in Arabic translation in 2008, and in a digital edition in 2009.
Professor Bose is now working on a major book on contemporary India, focused on India's social and political transformations in the past two decades and on India's gradual emergence as a global power in the early 21st century. It will be published by Harvard University Press in 2013.
