How to contact us
Full information on how to contact us is given on our Getting in touch| page.

Tracking your application

Please note: You should always access the tracker via the version of LSE for You that is linked to from this page (2.0) - do not use version 2.5 as the tracker is not yet fully compatible with that version.

We aim to keep you fully informed of the progress of your application through the LSE website. For information on any delays or special factors affecting the admission process, please see our news pages|.

Once you have been allocated your unique application number, you can check the progress of your own application, and inform us of any changes by using our automated online and telephone systems.

  • Make a note of your application number and use it when checking your status and in all correspondence with the Graduate Admissions office, including by telephone.
  • To see the current status of your application, follow the instructions below to access information that is linked directly to our computer system. What you see here is the same information we hold centrally. Later in the admissions process, the online tracking system also provides you with links to your financial support application and links to apply for accommodation, choose the optional courses that make up your programme and pay your tuition fees online.
  • If you need to advise us of a change of address, you should use the link on the tracking system to do so. To inform us of any changes to your application, to send additional information or to inform us of your decisions regarding your application, you should use the online forms available at How do I?
  • Telephone +44 (0)20 7955 7160 either to speak to a member of the Graduate Admissions Team Monday to Friday 9.45am-5.15pm (local time) or access automated summary information at any time.
  • All of your personal data is kept confidential, and we are therefore not able to discuss your application with any third party unless specifically nominated by you on your application form.

Setting-up 'LSE For You' access and using the graduate application tracker

Our Graduate Application Tracker will allow you to follow your application throughout the application and selection process, using information taken directly from our database. Using the tracker is the fastest way of getting access to information about the status of your application.

The application tracker is linked directly to our admissions database and mirrors the information we currently hold about your application. This includes:

  • Your personal details - name, date of birth, and contact information like your postal and e-mail addresses. Your address details should be amended by clicking on theeveryonetab. To amend any other details, please contact us using the appropriate 'How do I' form.
  • Your programme choices, ordered by preference, and what we have assessed your fee status to be.  If you have any queries regarding your fee status please visit the fee status explanation pages first.
  • Your application status - what stage your application is at in the process, and the decision if it is available. This information is 'live', and linked directly to our database.
  • There is also a full list of required documents, and the status of these documents. If there are any missing or inadmissible documents which may be holding up your application, it will say here.  Please note that documents are processed in order of receipt. We aim to process documents within five to ten working days from the date they are received by the office. For example, if you send a package by registered air mail from Washington DC on the 1st of February, and it arrives with us on the evening of 7th of February, it would usually arrive in our office via internal mail the next day, the 8th. From that date we will take between five to ten working days, so you should expect us to have processed it by the 15th. It may take less time, but you should not worry if documents you know have arrived are not logged on to the system immediately. Please do not contact us about your documents before this time has passed, as we will then be using the time we would spend processing your documents in answering your enquiry. At busy times, the volume of correspondence is such that it is not always possible to keep to our target. All documents are dealt with in the order that they arrive - please be patient, we will process your documents as quickly as we can. Any increase in the turnaround time for documents will be posted on the main current processing times page.
  • If you receive an offer, you will be able to check what conditions have been set. Conditions that you have met will no longer be shown. Only conditions or documents still required before registration will be detailed here.
  • A decision is authoritative and official only if it has been sent in writing from the Graduate Admissions Office.  It may take some time from a decision being indicated on the application tracker before you receive your official decision in writing.

Before you can use the Graduate Application Tracker for the first time you will need to set up your account. This should take no more than a few minutes:

How do I set-up an 'LSE For You' account?

Within 10 working days of submitting your application you will have been sent an acknowledgement email by LSE which summarises the current status of your application. If you have applied online this will be the fourth email that you have been sent and if you have applied on paper this will be the first email that you have been sent. This email contains a link to the LSE online portal commonly referred to as 'LSE For You'.

If you are applying to LSE for the first time the email will contain a URL (web link) which is unique to you.  You simply need to click on the link and follow the online instructions to set-up your account. Please note that the link will expire after approximately two weeks (the exact date is in the acknowledgement email) and you must set-up your account before this date.

If you are an existing LSE student or an LSE Alumni you should already have access to 'LSE For You' and when you next login you will have access to the Graduate Application Tracker. It should appear on the dropdown menu options and will appear on a new 'Prospective Student' tab. Your login will be included in our acknowledgement email.

If you were a previous LSE Graduate Offer Holder who did not register but previously created an 'LSE for You' account (by collecting your network username from the old Graduate Application Tracker) you will be able to access the Graduate Application Tracker by logging in using your previous login and password. Your original login will be included in our acknowledgement email.
