On 11th May 2009 Sir Michael Bichard, KCB, Director of the Institute for Government, put forward proposals for "A New Way for Government" in the keynote talk to this year's annual Capstone Showcase for the MPA Programme.
Sir Michael is Chairman of the Design Council. He was appointed chair of the Legal Services Commission in 2005 when he introduced a range of reforming measures aimed at modernising the legal aid system. He was also chair of the educational charity Rathbone.
In his current role at the Institute for Government he is at the forefront of innovative research into in thought leadership and learning in government.and the senior civil service and has collaborated closely with the LSE Public Policy group on a programme of seminars and sabbatical fellowships showcasing the best social science knowledge.
