Confirmation

Another record breaking year for A level passes has meant the School is already full for undergraduate study commencing in October 2011. In the vast majority of cases, applicants have met or exceeded all of their offer conditions. This means that LSE has not entered Clearing or Adjustment this year for any course.

The School would like to congratulate all successful students and looks forward to welcoming them to LSE in a few weeks time.

Unfortunately some applicants did not meet the conditions of their offer and, due to the high success rate, many will be disappointed that the School has been unable to confirm their place. The School wishes these students every success at their 'Insurance' institution or in their search for a course through Clearing|.

If you are unsure whether your place has been confirmed, please do not telephone the office but check the status of your application via the UCAS Track| website.

If you have been successful and your place has been confirmed, there is no need to contact the School at this stage. A Welcome pack is on its way to all confirmed offer holders and accommodation details, where appropriate, will also be confirmed. More information is available on the New Arrivals web pages.

Applicants who have not yet received a decision from the School should continue to check UCAS Track|on a daily basis as we are aiming to make decisions on all applications as soon as possible.

Any urgent enquiries should be directed to the Undergraduate Admissions Office via email to ug.admissions@lse.ac.uk| or on +44 (0)20 7955 7125 between 9.15am and 5pm. Please be patient as the office is extremely busy at the present time.

Submitting additional information
The School aims to make admissions decisions based solely on the information presented on the application for the vast majority of candidates. It is not the standard policy of the Admissions Office to request additional academic references unless the reference provided is not current (ie has been written by someone who used to teach you rather than someone who currently teaches you). If you are no longer in education, your academic reference should be from one of your most recent teachers/lecturers.

Please note: We do not require examples of academic work, testimonials or other supporting documents for the purposes of selection.

English Language requirements for 2011 entry
If students offer the IGCSE in English as a First Language or O level (other than those specified on our recognised English Language requirements list) and have been educated in the medium of English during their five most recent years of study (prior to 1 September 2011), then we will accept the qualification as sufficient evidence of English Language proficiency. For full details please see our entry requirements|.
