Assessment of sources of funding
The School has drawn up interim arrangements and guidance on the assessment of the sources of donations and grants. These have built on the previous guidelines under which the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR) has operated since January 2009.
Work is underway to create permanent guidelines and procedures for reviewing the sources of donations and grants, which will be informed by Lord Woolf's recommendations and the work undertaken by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in this area. These will be published on this website when they have been finalised and approved by Council and will be subject to regular review.
Responsibility for fundraising
No individual, centre or department should request a donation on their own initiative without first consulting ODAR or the Research Division at an early stage. This does not, of course, apply to discussions with the Economic and Social Research Council and similar grant giving bodies over potential competitive bids for funds.
Development Committee
The Development Committee advises the Director of Development and Alumni Relations and provides volunteer leadership for strategy, identification and solicitation of significant gifts to the School.
