In his new book How to Stop Fascism, which he will discuss at this event, Paul Mason offers a radical, hopeful blueprint for resisting and defeating the new far right.
History shows us the conditions that breed fascism, and how it can be successfully overcome. But it is up to us in the present to challenge it, and time is running out. From the ashes of COVID-19, we have an opportunity to create a fairer, more equal society. To do so, we must ask ourselves: what kind of world do we want to live in? And what are we going to do about it?
Meet our speaker and chair
Paul Mason (@paulmasonnews) is a journalist, writer and film-maker. His books include Postcapitalism, Why It’s Kicking Off Everywhere, Clear Bright Future and Rare Earth: A Novel. Paul writes for the New Statesman, and contributes to the Guardian, Freitag and Le Monde Diplomatique. He is a frequent guest on TV and radio shows, including BBC Newsnight, DemocracyNow! BBC Politics Live, Any Questions and BBC Question Time.
Lea Ypi (@lea_ypi) is Professor of Political Theory in the Government Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Associate Professor in Philosophy at the Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University. Before joining LSE, she was a Post-doctoral Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College (Oxford) and a researcher at the European University Institute
Robin Archer is Associate Professor (Reader) in Political Sociology at LSE.
