In-person and online public event (Shaw Library)

LSE’s annual interdisciplinary student research conference is taking place this year as part of the LSE Festival on Monday 10 June, in the Shaw Library and various locations around campus. The conference will showcase the research of current LSE students, recent alumni, and students from our partner CIVICA universities across Europe. This year’s conference draws on the LSE Festival theme of power and politics. 

Panels and sessions at this year's conference will address a wide range of thematic areas from across the social sciences which connect to issues of power and politics, including AI development and regulation, democratic governance, migration and refugees, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and many more.

Location update: registration and opening remarks will take place in the Shaw Library, 6th Floor, Old Building. An updated programme with new locations is available to view now.

Highlights include:

  • Over 100 research projects to discover, exploring the theme ‘Power and Politics’
  • 18 departments represented
  • 16 LSE alumni
  • 12 students from CIVICA partner institutions
  • Lunch and drinks reception for in-person attendees

The conference will provide a space to engage with a huge variety of student and alumni research: panel discussions, a poster gallery, performances, and keynotes, all of which highlight the importance of interdisciplinary approaches for understanding the transformations we observe in the world. 

Attendees are encouraged to join us for the full day but are welcome to drop in and out of panels throughout the day. Lunch and other refreshments are provided.

Photography

Photographs taken on behalf of LSE are often used on our social media accounts, website and publications. At events, photographs could include broad shots of the audience and lecture theatre, of speakers during the talk, and of audience members as they participate in the Q&A.

If you are photographed participating in an event Q&A but would not like your photograph to be stored for future use, please contact events@lse.ac.uk.

Podcasts
We aim to make all LSE events available as a podcast subject to receiving permission from the speaker/s to do this, and subject to no technical problems with the recording of the event. Podcasts are normally available 1-2 working days after the event. Podcasts and videos of past events can be found online.

LSE has now introduced wireless for guests and visitors in association with 'The Cloud', also in use at many other locations across the UK. Visitors from other participating institutions are encouraged to use eduroam. If you are having trouble connecting to eduroam, please contact your home institution for assistance.

The Cloud is only intended for guest and visitor access to wifi. Existing LSE staff and students are encouraged to use eduroam instead.
