Zhen Hao Liew is a full-time PhD candidate at LSE, who works under the supervision of Dr Ronald C. Po and Dr Qingfei Yin. He graduated with a BA (Hons) in History from the National University of Singapore and an MPhil in World History from the University of Cambridge. Before joining LSE, he was a history educator with the Ministry of Education, Singapore. His PhD research topic explores the role of coercion and punitive practices in the colonial management of the mobilities of Chinese labourers and populations in both British Malaya and the Dutch East Indies.
