About me

Wanting (Wendy) is a PhD candidate in Social Research Methods supervised by Professor Kenneth Benoit and Professor Milena Tsvetkova.

She holds a BSc in Psychology from Fudan University and an MA in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences from Columbia University. Previously she worked as a data scientist for several years in the industry.

Her research interest focuses on exploring and expanding the source of data and the corresponding methodologies for social science studies, especially psychological research. Specifically, she looks into the availability and completeness of social media data (text, image, social network, etc.) and the suitable analytical techniques (machine learning, neural networks, network analysis, etc.) to eventually understand human behaviours and the psychological mechanisms which drive the behaviours, as well as the change of such observations over time. She particularly is interested in opinion shift and its influential factors.
