Liam will be taking over from Professor Paul Dolan, who joined the Department in 2017 and will remain as Head of Department until 31 August 2020 before Liam takes over.

A former Fulbright and Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow, he has published extensively at the intersection of economics and psychology and developed successful programmes in behavioural economics and behavioural science at University College Dublin and Stirling Universities. He has been a visiting fellow at Princeton and Sydney universities.

I am thrilled to be joining LSE at such an exciting time for the Department. The psychological and behavioural sciences are at the heart of many key global questions in the 21st century. I look forward to contributing to our Department continuing a deep-level commitment to intellectual and pragmatic engagement with the development of our disciplines and their interaction with the wider world.

His appointment comes at a very exciting time for the Department, which now hosts eight programmes from undergraduate to doctoral level across a range of social psychological and behavioural science disciplines.

As well as being Head of Department, Professor Delaney will direct our recently established MSc in Behavioural Science and teach across our undergraduate and graduate programmes. He is developing research projects across three areas: the ethical foundations of behavioural public policy, mental health and economic policy, and the measurement foundations of behavioural welfare economics. He will be developing research projects and supervising students in these and related areas.
