PhD Topic: Perfectionism and Performance at Work

PhD Supervisors: Dr Thomas Curran and Professor Bradley Franks

Aishwarya (Aish) is a PhD student, an organisational psychologist and an HR professional. In her research, she explores the interactions between personality characteristics and factors that influence work success. She is specifically interested in investigating the personality characteristic of perfectionism and its overall influence on job-related performance as well as employee well-being outcomes. Her research is situated within the larger context of how micro-level psychological aspects of individual processes in workplaces have a profound impact on macro-level organisational systems and outcomes. Through her research, she hopes to deepen our understanding of how perfectionism can impact employee success and well-being at work as well as develop effective interventions that can inform policy and practice in the field of organisational psychology. She holds the prestigious LSE PhD Studentship.

Prior to starting her PhD at LSE, Aish was a Human Resources manager at the Indian Hotels Company Limited (Taj Group - Tata Enterprise) - a luxury international hospitality company. In this role, she managed and contributed to several projects in collaboration with the senior executive leadership team. Some of these projects include the development of a customised person-culture fit evaluation tool to aid talent acquisition, and formulation of a leadership development programme module based on the personality characteristic of humility. Apart from these, she also managed several HR operations for 1200+ employees at the flagship hotel – The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai.

Aish earned her MA from the University of Mumbai, where she specialised in Industrial-Organisational Psychology, and her BA with majors in Psychology from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
