Will Bartlett

Will Bartlett is Visiting Senior Fellow at the LSEE Research Unit on South East Europe at LSE’s European Institute. He holds an MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge, an MA in Development Economics from the School for Oriental and African Studies, and a PhD from the University of Liverpool on economic development in former Yugoslavia (1979).

Will has been Lecturer in Development Economics and Comparative Economic Systems at the Universities of Southampton, Bath, and Bristol, Research Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, and Professor of Social Economics at the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol.

From 2009 to 2015 he was Senior Research Fellow in the Political Economy of South East Europe at LSEE. He established the LSEE Research Network on Social Cohesion in South East Europe continues to be the coordinator of the research network. From September 2017 he will also be a Visiting Research Fellow at the International Inequalities Institute of the LSE, where he will pursue research on inequality and social welfare in the successor states of former Yugoslavia.

He has been Team Leader on several large scale research projects for the European Commission in the Western Balkans and in 2009 he was Senior Economic Advisor to the European Commission in Kosovo. He has also worked as a consultant to the European Parliament, the European Training Foundation, UNDP, and the World Bank and other international organisations on various assignments in South East Europe.
