Research assistantships 2021/22

Elisa Aguzzoli is from Bologna, Italy. She moved to the UK three years ago for university. She completed an undergraduate degree in Anthropology at Brunel University London. She is currently enrolled as a part-time student at LSE in Global Health Policy. She is deeply interested in global health issues, their impact on mental health, and the medicalization of treatments. 

In her role In her role as a research assistant at CPEC, Elisa is working with Professor Martin Knapp and Adelina Comas-Herrera on the STRiDE (Strengtening responses to dementia in developing countries) project. 

Lindsay Caird is a current MSc student in Health and international Development at the LSE. In 2020 she graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BA (Hons) in Recreation and Leisure Studies, with the Aging Option. During her undergrad her favourite experience working with the ageing population was volunteering as a Physical Activity Laison (PAL) in the community long-term care facility. In this position she worked with residents with Dementia, taking them through their daily physical activity regimes.

In her role In her role as a research assistant at CPEC, Lindsay is working with Raphael Wittenberg on a project focusing on dementia care.

 Alena Tourtellotte is currently pursuing an MSc in International Health Policy (Health Economics) at LSE. She graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Gerontology in 2017. After graduation, she worked as a Health Research Analyst at Mathematica in Chicago, where her research focused on the intersection between Medicare and Medicaid coverage. She is primarily interested in long-term care financing and provision.  

In her role as a research assistant at CPEC, Alena is working with Dr Jose-Luis Fernandez supporting research looking at funding and supporting people leaving hospital with social care. 

After having completed the MSc International Health Policy at LSE, Lea is currently pursuing an MSc in Public Health at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her broader research interests are in the fields of health care financing, health economics and epidemiology in high-income countries and the evaluation of new health technologies. She is interested in understanding the health and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of COVID-19 policies and practices on social care systems, and how international experiences can be leveraged to make health care systems more resilient and sustainable.  

In her role In her role as a research assistant at CPEC, Lea is working with Josie Dixon on a project to explore care home visiting arrangements during COVID-19.
