Pinjas is a PhD candidate in the Department of Economics, supervised by Alan Manning and affiliated with CEP. His research interests include Labour Economics, with a current focus on labour market power, and Applied Microeconomics, with a broader interest in the impact evaluation of public policy reforms on multiple educational, labour market, and developmental outcomes. His previous research includes work on changes to maternity leave legislation and student loans and the implementation of a childhood welfare program in Chile.
His current project focuses on the measurement and estimation of monopsony power in labour markets and the empirical characterisation of the job application process.
Pinjas has previously held research and teaching positions at LSE, PUC-Chile, University of Chile, Central Bank of Chile, and CLAPES UC. Originally from Chile, he holds a BA in Business and Economics and an MA in Economics from PUC-Chile.
