Since completing my Masters in Immigration and Public Policy from LSE, I have been pursuing my career as a humanitarian worker at the United Nations. I joined the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Switzerland in 2019 for a few months, and in 2020 I started working with the World Food Programme (WFP) as an External Relations officer based in Italy and Mozambique.

I have since transitioned to the role of Emergency Response officer, where I have had the privilege of being part of the emergency response to one of the largest droughts in Somalia’s history. Currently, I am in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, supporting the implementation of a new emergency programme for food-insecure people affected by a recent spike in food and commodities prices.

My experience at LSE was instrumental in helping me achieve my goal of building a career in the United Nations. Working for the world's largest humanitarian organization has – while a challenging experience - provided me with an opportunity to help those who need it the most while seeing the long-term impact of development projects. The different lectures, seminars and events organized by the university provided me with a solid foundation in the humanitarian field while being immersed in a multicultural environment with passionate students also exposed me to different cultures and perspectives.

My career as a humanitarian worker is a testament to the value of education and the impact it can have on individuals and society. I am proud to be part of a global community of professionals who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the world, and I look forward to continuing this work in the years to come.
