Jacob Lypp is an ESRC-funded PhD candidate at the LSE’s European Institute. His work focuses on civic educational programmes in Germany and France that target a predominantly Muslim population. He is interested in qualitative and ethnographic methods to make sense of these programmes’ genesis and their implementation in the classroom context – as well as in more theoretical reflections on the evolving nature of citizenship regimes in contemporary Europe.

Jacob has work experience at French NGO La Cimade, at the German Foreign Office, and at a number of academic research projects. After completing a B.A. in politics at the University of Cambridge with first-class honours, Jacob spent a year of graduate studies at Harvard University. He holds a dual M.A. in politics and international relations from Freie Universität Berlin and Sciences Po Paris (summa cum laude).
