New Faculty
The Department of Finance is pleased to welcome Dr Vicente Cuñat and Dr Jack Favilukis as members of its full time faculty for the 2007/8 academic session.
Vicente Cuñat returns to LSE (after completing a PhD in Economics here in 2001) from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona where he held the position of Assistant Professor, teaching undergraduates and PhD students, as well as on the MBA programme in the Department of Economics and Business Administration. His research interests will enhance the Department's current strengths in empirical corporate finance, and he will contribute teaching to the graduate courses FM430 Corporate Finance and Asset Markets and also to the new FM455 Corporate Finance II.
Jack Favilukis recently completed his PhD in Finance at New York University's Leonard Stern School of Business and is a welcome addition to the Department's growing group of researchers in financial econometrics and empirical asset markets. Jack will contribute teaching to FM300 Corporate Finance, Investments and Financial Markets and FM442 Quantitative Methods for Finance and Risk Analysis.
Visiting Faculty
In addition to the two newly recruited faculty members the Department would also like to welcome three visiting academic faculty during the 2007/8 academic year.
Professor Mike Burkhart, Head of the Department of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics visits the Department to teach on the new FM454 Corporate Finance I course, the Department's key contribution to the School's new MSc Management and Economics Programme. Prof. Burkhart focuses his research in Corporate Theory and Financial Contracting.
Professor Denis Gromb, Associate Professor of Finance at London Business School, specialising in Corporate Finance, will bring his expertise to the MSc Finance (Part-time) Programme by teaching the elective course FM407 Applied Financial Valuation. He will also teach on the core MSc Accounting and Finance course, FM430 Corporate Finance and Asset Markets.
Dr Joel Peress, Assistant Professor of Finance at INSEAD Business School, Paris, will be contributing teaching to the graduate course FM441 Derivatives during his visit. Joel's research interests include Asset Pricing, Information Economics and Portfolio Choice.
