Global health film viewings 

The Global Health Initiative hosts a series film viewings to promote open dialogue on pressing global health issues. We recognise film as an important communication tool to prompt change and inspiration in our community. 

Our viewings are free and open to the public. Popcorn is also provided.

Global Health Initiative Film Screening: Bending the Arc 

Bending the Arc tells the story of Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Jim Yong Kim, and activist Ophelia Dahl whose charitable work started a global health movement. They managed to bring together the resources to build health clinics in remote areas.

Global Health Initiative Film Screening: 2040

Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on a journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream. Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board of how these solutions could regenerate the world for future generations.

Global Health Initiative Film Screening: Period. End of Sentence. 

Join the Global Health Initiative for the screening of “Period. End of Sentence”. This documentary follows the work of Muruganantham, known as Pad Man, who created a machine that makes affordable, biodegradable pads from locally sourced materials, helping girls and women gain independence and stay in education.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A around the issues covered in the film.

Film Screening: Pili 

Introducing Pili: one woman's journey through hardship, pain, endurance and hope. A single mother facing a HIV+ status, a community of stigma and a generation of poverty, Pili is offered the chance to change it all. But with only 3 days to do so, it's an uphill battle.
