About me

Dr Johan Ahlback is an LSE Fellow in International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

My research is on how foreign aid is allocated in developing countries at the sub-national level. Within receiving countries, I focus on who gets what of foreign aid, and the potential political and electoral consequences of this. I also study elections and issues pertaining to electoral integrity in aid-receiving countries, and how these impact on aid dynamics and development.
