About me

Claudia is a research student in the Department of International Development at LSE. Her research is focused on how conflict, illicit economies, and peace-building strategies relate to development outcomes.

She holds a BA and a MA in Economics from Universidad de los Andes. Before joining LSE, Claudia worked as a researcher at the Center of Studies on Security and Drugs (CESED) at Universidad de los Andes. She also worked as a civil servant in Colombia, at the General Attorney’s Office and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies, where she supported the formulation and implementation of public policy and developed data analysis projects to identify and understand patterns of crime, access to justice, and justice administration in Colombia.

Her article “The Effects of Aerial Spraying of Coca Crops on Child Labor, School Attendance, and Educational Lag in Colombia, 2008-2012” is published in the Journal of Education in Emergencies’ special issue on the War on Drugs.
