Eduardo Mercadante is a PhD student in the Department of International Development at LSE. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics and a M.Sc. in Public Policies, Strategies and Development from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), in Brazil. His main research topics are innovation and intellectual property policies and firms’ strategies in the pharmaceutical sector of developing countries. His PhD thesis will focus on patent offices and the prosecution of pharmaceutical patents in Brazil, India, Mexico and Argentina.
