Carolina is a Professor in the Department of Government at the University of Essex (UK), and a fellow at the National Institute for Economic and Social Research (NIESR). During her time as Visiting Professor at LSE, she will be working on a research project on central bank governance that examines the political and economic consequences of assigning multiple mandates to central banks.
Her research and teaching interests include international and comparative political economy, the political economy of money and finance, central banks, and the interactions between of domestic and international institutions.
Her current research includes the study of central banks' governance, the adoption of restrictive monetary institutions in developing countries, public trust in central banks, and the political economy of FDI. Her research has been published in the Journal of Politics, International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Peace Research, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Governance, Regulation & Governance, Political Research Quarterly, Economic Modelling, Economic Analysis and Policy, and other outlets.
