After a long period of lockdown and restrictions, the Centre aims at relaunching its entire social platform – including the new PhD Community. We conceived two ways in which to launch our community-building events and resume the social life at the Centre.
Term Tertulias
These events are informal yet intellectual spaces in which to have open conversations on general themes relating to Latin America and the Caribbean, current events and state of the region at-large.
The tertulias are a great opportunity to meet like-minded peers across different departments who, from different disciplines, work on the region.
The next tertulia is expected to take place in early 2022 in Lent Term. Stay tuned for more updates.
Academic Speed Dating
With this event we plan to host our first in-person event on 9 December at 17.30 for the new PhD Community! It is a dynamic and interactive opportunity to foster acquaintances between incoming and existing members.
During this event, students and academics rotate amongst themselves in groups to introduce themselves and their research interests in a very short five-minute intervention.
By the end of the event, members will have a nice overview of the expertise in the community as well as interesting contacts for future collaborations and partnerships.
This event will take place in Kinta Alley at 32 Lincoln's Inn Fields.
