Dr Bethania Antunes, Associate Professor (Education) of Management, has recently published the new teaching case study Stonegate: Managing Mental Health and Fostering Resilience, co-authored with Dr Kyle Ingram from the University of California, Riverside.
Dr Antunes said: “This case is a valuable tool for sparking critical conversations about mental health in the workplace, enabling students to connect theory with practice.”
The case explores the challenges of high-pressure promotions at Stonegate Group, the UK's largest privately held managed pub operator, highlighting the impact on mental health, leadership, and career transitions. Based on interviews with HR managers and employees, the case provides practical insights into resilience, organisational support, and effective HR strategies in the hospitality industry.
“We’re grateful to Ivey Publishing and to our students”, Dr Antunes continued, “whose feedback shaped seminar activities to foster engaging, thoughtful learning experiences.”
Teaching activities for analysing the case were developed collaboratively, incorporating feedback from MSc Human Resources and Organisations students at LSE and management students at UCR to ensure meaningful discussions about mental health and workplace well-being.
The case study was published on Thursday 28 November 2024, through Ivey Publishing.
