Congratulations to Fabio Richter, MSc Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation (MISDI) 2021, a Department of Management Alumnus who has recently been awarded the Diana Award, the most prestigious accolade a young person can receive for their social action, established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Fabio founded the ‘Hot Meal Challenge’ in 2023 to combat the UK’s escalating cost-of-living crisis and its devastating impact on food-insecure families. By combining technology with community-driven activism, the campaign fed hungry families in London, reached 90,000 on people on social media and secured global press coverage.

“My time at LSE taught me to think critically like a social scientist, while equipping me with the skills to execute like an entrepreneur”, Fabio said. “LSE played a pivotal role in shaping the values and commitment that led to this achievement and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities and support I received as a student.

"I am incredibly proud to honour Princess Diana’s legacy and to have been recognised for this joint effort”, Fabio continued. “We built a donation platform to tackle food poverty that transformed into a community movement to ensure that no one had to face hunger alone”.

In a letter Fabio received from His Royal Highness William, Prince of Wales, the prince congratulated the winners of the award, and expressed his pride in the impact they had on their communities and beyond.

The Diana Award was founded on the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ belief that young people have the power to change their community, their country, and the world. It aims to empower young people to make that positive change.
