About me

Dr Ewa Majczak is Visiting Fellow at the Department of Media and Communications at LSE and a Teaching Fellow at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles.

Ewa’s research focuses on intersections of technologies influence gender inequalities within society. She holds a PhD in anthropology from the University of Oxford where she examined the influence of digital visual technologies on young women’s livelihoods in Yaoundé, Cameroon, dealing in particular with their economic and intimate prospects. Ewa is currently transforming this research into a book manuscript which will contribute to feminist and decolonial critiques of digital capitalism. Ewa’s first new research project examines social media influencers in Cameroon through the lens of distribution of economic resources. Ewa’s second new research concerns gender inequalities at the intersections of new media technologies and reproductive work. It examines how the reproductive health apps made by and for women in Cameroon reconfigure gendered and inter-generational networks of care.
