Dr Maria Rikitianskaia is a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Media and Communications at LSE, in addition to being a postdoctoral researcher at USI Università della Svizzera italiana, Lugano, Switzerland. Her research focuses on the global history of wireless communication, from wireless telegraphy during World War I to the wireless and mobile networks of the present day. At LSE, she is working on her research project "The World Wide Wireless: The Origins and Global Spread of Wi-Fi Networks, 1985-2003" funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and aims at researching the origins of Wi-Fi networks through the transnational approach, the political economy of communication, and the social construction of technology.
Dr Rikitianskaia will be working with Dr Mulvin during her time at LSE.
