We will accept any reasonable or constructive comment that contributes to debate, including strong criticism. We operate a propriety filter, so comments are routed to the blog editor and are not approved for posting until they have been checked. There will be a brief delay in posting overnight, at weekends and when we are very busy.
We will judge each comment according to the following criteria:
Language and Manners: This blog is intended for a wide audience and comments that include offensive or inappropriate language, or are considered by the blog editor to be rude and offensive, will not be approved. If your point can’t be made politely, it probably shouldn’t be made at all.
Ad Hominem-ness: Criticism (and praise) should be levelled at the content, not the author. Although ad hominem criticism is not always fallacious, we’d rather you kept your comments non-personal.
Relevance: A comment that does not add to the conversation, runs off on an inappropriate tangent or kills the conversation will not be approved.
Spamminess: Please don’t try to use this blog to advertise your business, book, album, coffee shop or wedding. It won’t work. Please also try to limit the number of links in your comments. Too many links make us suspicious.
If you leave a comment and it does not appear in a reasonable time period, and you think that it satisfies all of the above criteria, please feel free to contact the blog editor.
