The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships Scheme is designed to support researchers’ careers and foster excellence in research. Funded by the European Commission, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships:
- Aim to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD and who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility.
- Are open to researchers of any nationality who wish to engage in R&I projects by either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe. The standard duration of these fellowships must be between 12 and 24 months.
- Target researchers holding a PhD who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, and acquire new skills and develop their careers. PFs help researchers gain experience in other countries, disciplines and non-academic sectors.
The Fellowship is for between 12-24 months, starting from April or May 2022. The Fellowship provides generous funding to cover: living allowance; mobility allowance; research, training, and networking activities; alongside family, long-term leave, and special needs allowances.
For full details and further guidance please consult the European Commission website.
Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre (SEAC) at the London School of Economics and Political Science welcomes expressions of interest by post-doctoral candidates who wish to apply for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship to be hosted at SEAC. The fellow is expected to proactively contribute to the academic life of SEAC, which includes, but not limited to, delivering a talk, organising a workshop and producing working papers.
Selection Process at SEAC (2022 Scheme)
Interested candidates are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to SEAC (seac.admin@lse.ac.uk) by Thursday 12 August 2021, with the following:
Please ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria set out by the European Commission. Applicants should have a PhD degree at the time of the deadline for applications. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree will also be considered eligible to apply. Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline. Applicants must have a maximum of eight years experience in research, from the date of the award of their PhD degree, years of experience outside research and career breaks will not count towards the above maximum, nor will years of experience in research in third countries, for nationals or long-term residents of EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries who wish to reintegrate to Europe.
All eligible Expression of Interests will be carefully reviewed by SEAC, and successful applicant(s) will be informed by mid September 2021. Successful applicant(s) are to receive further support from SEAC, and LSE's Research Division to develop and enhance their application before submission. Please note that SEAC's support does not guarantee selection, with decisions being made by the European Commission.
Potential applicants who wish to make enquiries to SEAC should contact the SEAC Director, Professor John Sidel, j.t.sidel@lse.ac.uk
