Code of behaviour

Before taking part in any LSE Student Marketing and Recruitment (SMR) activity please read this code of behaviour and confirm that you will abide by it.

We expect all participants in Student Marketing and Recruitment activities and events to behave responsibly and respect the rights of other students and staff. This is to ensure that students benefit from and enjoy our events. It is also to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff.

In-person activities

  • The purchase and/or use of any illegal substances is strictly forbidden.
  • Students must follow any emergency procedures, such as fire drills, as directed by a member of staff.
  • Sexist, racist or homophobic behaviour will not be tolerated, nor will bullying or any other anti-social behaviour.
  • LSE does not accept responsibility for any loss of or damage to  any property at any time. Please take care of any valuables and respect others’ property, including LSE property.
  • We expect polite and considerate behaviour from attendees. If your behaviour is disruptive to LSE students, staff or other attendees arrangements will be made for you to leave the campus and your school/college will be informed.

Online activities

  • Please do not share the link to or details of online activities with anyone else. Each attendee will receive registration information and should register individually.
  • You are only expected to take part in activities on the advertised day(s)/time(s). Do not try to contact staff or other participants outside of these times.
  • Do not ask staff for any personal contact details, as they will not be able to share these with you or have one-to-one conversations online.
  • Please do not take photographs of your screen or share any images of the online activity with anyone else; this is for your safety as well as the safety of other participants and staff.
  • Sexist, racist or homophobic behaviour will not be tolerated, nor will bullying or any other anti-social behaviour.
  • We expect polite and considerate behaviour from attendees. If your behaviour is disruptive to LSE students, staff or other attendees, your access will be withdrawn.
  • Please let a member of staff know immediately if you have any concerns about an online activity, or believe that someone has broken the guidelines above. We can always be contacted by email at ard.events.questions@lse.ac.uk
  • For advice about keeping safe online as a young person, please see the NSPCC website.
  • If you have experienced online abuse or are worried about the way someone has been communicating online, you can report this to Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP).

Additional rules for specific programmes

  • At the start of some events, our staff may explain some additional rules that apply to that specific event. It is expected that you will follow them.

Attendance

  • If you can no longer attend an event or activity, it is important the Student Marketing and Recruitment team is informed before the event, so that your place can be offered to another prospective student.
  • You should be punctual and if travelling to an event on campus, allow enough time to travel there by public transport. Please inform the SMR team if you are running late or are no longer able to attend.

Serious incidents of misbehaviour

In the event of serious incidents of misbehaviour, including bullying, harassment, fighting or the use of illegal substances, you will not be allowed to continue the activity. For in-person events, arrangements will be made for you to leave the campus. For online activities, your access will be withdrawn. We may also report any inappropriate behaviour to your school/college or relevant authorities.
