LSE Summer School - The student perspective
From studying at a world-class institution, to making new friends from all over the globe, 97% of our students from 116 nationalities would recommend the programme to a friend.
Here's what a few of them had to say:
Name: Justin
Institution: Yale University, USA
Studied:
EC320: Applied Econometrics and Big Data
EC235: Economics of European Integration

"I decided to study abroad for two main reasons. First, to explore academically in a different country and in a different environment away from home. The second reason was LSE's reputation in economics and finance, so I thought that this would be an ideal place to study."
"The professors are really nice. One thing that I appreciate is that both of my courses had multiple instructors, so they have had a change of pace as each instructor brings their own teaching method."
"I also chose LSE because of its reputation at Yale. Taking economics courses at my school, a lot of my instructors would talk about things to do in the summer and outside of internships, and the number one option was to study abroad at LSE. After talking to many students who had studied here before it seemed like a very good experience, with rigorous courses, but also a great city to be in."
Name: Bruno
Institution: Insper, Brazil
Studied:
FM230: Alternative Investments
EC320: Applied Econometrics and Big Data
FM350: Advanced Corporate Finance

“I met a lot of people with the same interests as I have. The same interests in the same industries and the same style of work, and making friendships with these people was great to me because I learned so much from them outside the classroom.”
“The knowledge we gained at LSE is not easy to get in other places. The professors are of really great quality, we don't find these professors at every summer school or course. The way they teach, it's really tied to getting the student to really know the material, not to memorise or just know for a week and then forget it. It's really focused on teaching for life. I think that was by far the most beneficial outcome of the summer school.”
“For any of my friends thinking of attending summer school, I would definitely say it's a very good opportunity, don't miss it. You won't regret coming to summer school and I'm sure you're also going to recommend it to others”

“What I've enjoyed most about studying abroad is the different teaching experience. It was amazing to meet people from different places and hear about where they're from.”
“I wanted to study for a master’s degree, and I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do, so I talked to a friend of mine, and he suggested LSE Summer School. They offered a broad range of units that were ideal for master's degrees. I went on the site and I thought, "This is a perfect chance to taste what I could do for my master's degree."”
Name: Ivan
Institution: Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia
Studied:
LL206: International Financial Law
LL301: Corporate Finance Law

“I chose LSE Summer School because it is one of the best universities in the world in the ratings LSE Summer School offered the best selection of courses on the topics I'm interested in, like Corporate Law, Financial Law and Financial Regulation, so it was an obvious choice.”
“I really enjoyed the fact that London is one of the most important cities in the world and you definitely can feel this. It's very international, it is very likely that if you start speaking with somebody in the street that person will have an accent just as you do. This is really great - I really felt that London is open for everyone who wishes to study or work here.”
